Ingredients:
2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup shortening
2/3 cup milk
Directions:
Combine flour, baking powder, cream of tartar, sugar and salt.
Add butter and shortening, by cutting in with a pastry blender.
Add milk until combined.
Turn out mixture on to a lightly floured surface. Knead several times.
Roll out to more than a 1/2 inch thick.
Dipping cutter into flour, cut out biscuits.
Place biscuits on to baking sheet at least 1 inch apart.
Let dough rest for a few minutes and then prick the tops with a fork.
Bake 10-12 minutes at 450.
